The Indira Gandhi University was established in September, 2013. Prior to this, it was P.G. Regional Centre of MDU since 1988. The Department of Commerce is one of the oldest Departments of the university as it was part of PGRC since its incorporation. The department is located at the Rao Tularam Block of the Indira Gandhi University Meerpur. At present it offers two years Master Degree Program (M.Com Pass Course), Five years integrated program (B.com Hons.-M.Com Hons.) and Ph.D. The major strength of the department is fully efficient and qualified team of experienced teachers with research experience. Many activities related with practical knowledge are provided in the field of Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Taxation and Human Resource Management. In addition to this, the department is providing value added and skill enhancement courses and organizes the Industrial Training, cultural activities, Industrial visits, Workshop, Seminar and extension lectures time to time. The department is also actively engaged in various co-curricular activities so that the overall personality of the students can be developed. A good number of students have qualified NET-JRF and other competitive exams and placed at good positions in reputed institutions. The department is keeping pace with the changing economic and business scenario of the country and updating the syllabi from time to time. Many kinds of Audio visuals teaching aids are used to help students to clear their doubts and concepts. A Healthy mentor mentee ratio is maintained which help students in guidance and Career counseling.
