The Department of Physics at Indira Gandhi University Meerpur, Rewari, Haryana, was established in 2015 with the vision to promote excellence in Physics education and research. The department is committed to nurturing inquisitive minds and fostering scientific temper among students. At present, the Department offers two academic programmes: M.Sc. in Physics (2 years, 60 seats) and Ph.D. in Physics. The curriculum is designed to provide a strong theoretical foundation as well as hands-on experimental training, enabling students to pursue careers in academia, research, and industry. The Department of Physics actively engages in cutting-edge research in a variety of thrust areas including Condensed Matter Physics, Photonics, Material Science, Biophysics and Computational Physics. Faculty members are involved in collaborative research and publish in reputed journals. To complement classroom learning, the department actively organizes interactive academic activities such as science quizzes, invited lectures, seminars, and workshops. It also facilitates student internships at leading research and industrial laboratories and institutions. Furthermore, students are encouraged and mentored to prepare for national-level competitive examinations such as NET, GATE, and JEST.
